Focus on Jesus!
EXHORTATION through the BOOK of LIFE
Scripture to ponder on:
“But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?””
Matthew 14:30-31 NKJV
FOCUS ON JESUS!
If the devil finds a way to make you take your eyes off the Word of God, he will use it. He will create problems for you. He will create noise, like a boat in a storm, the circumstances around you. He will do everything possible to make you focus your attention, not on God's promise, but on the realm of the physical senses and the situation you are facing. For Satan knows very well that if he doesn't do this, you will seize that promise and overcome him.
That's exactly what he did to Peter. When Peter jumped out of the boat at Jesus' command, what happened first? He walked on the water without any problem. All his attention was fixed on the word that Jesus had spoken to him: "Come!"
But when he took his eyes off that word and began to look at the storm, he suddenly realized that he was doing something impossible. After all, he was a fisherman. All his training and experience told him that if the waves reached a certain height, he could only drown! Instead of remaining focused on what Jesus had told him, he considered what he knew in the natural. The moment he did that, his faith wavered, and he began to sink. Don't let this happen to you too! If you receive a promise from God's Word, hold on to it. Don't let yourself be distracted by anything else.
The devil will do everything he can to turn you away from that promise. He will stir up trouble around you. He will try to frighten you. He will remind you of all sorts of things from your past to try to bring you back to your old way of thinking.
But persevere! Keep your eyes fixed on the Word of God until it becomes more real to you than anything else. If you do this, you will be perfectly able to "walk on water"!
Jesus’ beloved !
