EXHORTATION through the BOOK of LIFE
Scriptures to ponder on :
“And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want. But when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger! But the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:”
Luke 15:14, 17, 22 ASV
*** THE PRODIGAL SON IS YOU ***
The verse above tells us the story of the prodigy son and his return home and his meeting with his father. But above all, it is the story of the unconditional love that God feels for his child (you and me). I like to read the parables of the Lord Jesus because they express the heart of our heavenly Father that HE has come to reveal to us.
Let's go back to this young man! After consuming everything, he realizes the misery in which he finds himself. He finds a job to keep pigs. What in itself is a slave job, a pariah among Jews because they do not eat pigs. The young man was in such a lack that, sometimes, he salivated in front of the food he gave to the pigs, but he could not eat it. So, one day, he remembered the abundance in his family home and he decided to go home to ask his father for work. He surely said to himself after what I did I don't deserve to find my old place of beloved son but if only I could find a job with my father...
He had no dream that, during this time, the father on his side had his eyes turned to the road hoping every day not to miss his son's return. The custom, at the time, was for the elders to go out to stone this rebellious child who had claimed his inheritance during his father's lifetime and then go and squander him with worldly people (Deuteronomy 21:18-21). The son had well prepared his speech of reconciliation with his father. But to his surprise, as soon as his father saw him, he ran to his son covered in old clothes and who must have smelled bad, he kissed him and gave a party for his child's return. Then he ordered that he be given a bath, new clothes, an unlimited debit card and that shoes be put on his feet (Luke 15:20).
But in fact, who is the father? And who is the son? The Father here represents God and the young son is you (and me). From your birth, everything has been put in place for your well-being. Unfortunately, the world was corrupted by Satan. He multiplies the efforts to make you divert from the love of God, from all the things that God has planned for you in His immense love and you are there, you do not see the end of the tunnel even if you go to church, despite all the efforts you make to make ends meet. Satan knows that the contract that Adam had ceded to him is coming to an end, so he multiplies the opportunities to move you away from the father's love just like the prodigal son who was momentarily removed from his father.
The eldest son was outrageously surprised by his father's behavior towards his brother. In his anger, he exposed to his father everything he did (unlike his brother) while he was at home. Yes, sometimes you think you deserve more because you do more than everyone around you? Are you the one who closes the doors of the church? Who always helps everyone? Who works more than everyone? Do you sometimes feel harmed?
Beloved, do you find yourself in this parable? So receive today this unconditional love of your heavenly Father and receive on daily basis what Jesus has accomplished for you.
Jesus’ beloved
AMEN & AMEN 🙏🏾🙏🏾!!
