Put the Holy Ghost in charge
EXHORTATION through the BOOK of LIFE
Verse to Meditate Upon:
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Romans 8:26 KJV
Put the Holy Spirit in charge
As long as you live on this earth, you will face challenge in your flesh. It is a body subject to death, and subject to the physical world around you.
Your renewed spirit cannot sin; it desires complete obedience to God. But the weakness of the flesh makes you fall prey to the temptations around you.
Does this mean you are condemned to a life of failure until Jesus returns and this body of flesh is glorified?
No! It means you must strengthen your spirit until it dominates your flesh. The Word calls us to crucify the flesh: your spirit must take the upper hand. Praying in the Holy Spirit applies the power of the spirit to the flesh (Jude 20), enabling your spirit to rise up and take charge.
Just as lifting weights strengthens your arms, praying in tongues strengthens your spirit. Your spirit is infinitely more powerful than your flesh, and as you fortify it, the flesh simply has to yield.
Unfortunately, many Christians do not understand this. Overwhelmed by a sin, instead of overcoming it through the things of God — such as praying in the Spirit — they continue to struggle in their own natural strength. Consequently, they end up failing over and over again.
If you are caught in this cycle, take courage! God has not commanded you to be spiritual by your own strength. He knows your weakness, and He has provided a way to overcome it. He has given you the gift of praying in tongues, coupled with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. No matter how much you have failed in the past, from now on you will do exploits!
Be aware, however, that the enemy will try to dissuade you. He knows that once you learn how to align your flesh, he will no longer have a foothold in your life. You will shut the door to him, and he will not be able to enter.
So, renew your commitment to pray in the Spirit today. Make a quality decision to follow the command God gives in Jude 20:
“But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit...”
