EXHORTATION through the BOOK of LIFE

Verse to meditate on:

“He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

YOUR GOOD SHEPHERD

Day after day, you do your best and you keep pushing forward. You may not even realize the weight of your burden until your soul feels constantly exhausted or a nagging sense of overwhelm takes over you.

Let me tell you this: You were not made to live this way.

The Bible offers us many images of who we are as believers: eagles that soar and lions that stand with courage. But do you know which image appears most often?

Sheep. Psalm 100:3 describes it beautifully: “It is he who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”

Sheep are not made to fend for themselves. They do not find their own food or defend themselves against predators. When they are lost, they cannot find their way back: they simply bleat.

This might seem like a weakness, but it is nothing of the sort. It is a reflection of the way the Lord looks at us and the intimate relationship He desires to have with us. That is why He laid down His life for us.

As sheep, we were created to follow a shepherd. And not just any shepherd: the Good Shepherd.

Psalm 23 begins with these unforgettable words: “Jehovah is my shepherd: I shall not want.”

He is the One who leads, provides, protects, and restores.

When insects torment the sheep, the shepherd anoints their heads with oil. When one of them ends up on its back, vulnerable, the Good Shepherd lifts it up and sets it back on its feet. When a sheep goes missing, He leaves the ninety-nine and goes in search of it.

This is how our Lord Jesus acts.

He does not scold you, nor does He put you to shame. He takes you in His arms, carries you, and brings you home. As His sheep, you do not have to struggle or earn your way back: you simply need to accept being carried.

This may be exactly what you need today.

Accompanying Prayer:

Lord Jesus, my Good Shepherd,

I come to You just as I am, tired of carrying burdens too heavy for my shoulders. You know my silent struggles, my exhaustion, and the moments when I feel overwhelmed by the whirlwind of life.

Forgive me for wanting to control everything and trying to figure things out on my own, when You desire so deeply to guide me, protect me, and take care of me.

Today, I lay my fears at Your feet. I choose to surrender my struggles and accept Your rest. Come and anoint my head with oil, lift me up wherever I have fallen, and take me in Your arms.

Thank You for being this attentive Shepherd who does not scold me, but carries me with love and brings me back to a safe place. I place my heart and my day into Your hands.

Amen!

Jesus’ beloved
