The Father’s name
EXHORTATION through THE BOOK OF LIFE
Scripture to ponder on
“I did manifest Thy name to the men whom Thou hast given to me out of the world; Thine they were, and to me Thou hast given them, and Thy word they have kept;”
John 17:6 YLT98
THE NAME OF THE FATHER
In the Garden of Eden, a deep family communion existed between God and His creation, made in His image. Sadly, this precious bond was broken by sin. But in His infinite love, God took the initiative to bring us home:
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:18-19. The verse to meditate on is taken from Jesus’ priestly prayer before His Passion. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus consistently manifested the character of His Father (John 14:10).
In the Old Testament, God revealed Himself in many ways to demonstrate His love. However, He never revealed Himself as Father. It was Jesus who came to fulfill this mission: to reveal the Father to us.
Today, you can confidently approach your Heavenly Father because of the perfect work of Jesus:
“For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.” — Romans 8:29
Strengthened by this truth, do no longer address Him as a distant God: call upon Him as your Father, for you are fully His child.
LET US PRAY
Heavenly Father,
I thank You for the immense privilege I have of being Your child. Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to reconcile me to You and reveal Your Fatherly heart to me.
I remove from my heart all fear, distance, or feelings of inferiority. Help me to draw near to You each day with the confidence and freedom of a beloved son (daughter).
May the reality of our communion transform my daily life and may I, too, reflect Your love and character to those around me.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Jesus’ beloved !
AMEN & AMEN 🙏🏾 🙏🏾 ! !
