Scripture to ponder on
“But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.”
Acts 16:25 NKJV
PRAISE IN YOUR PRISON
What do you do when the answer hasn’t come? When the doors haven’t opened? When you the breakthrough hasn’t shown up?
Let me take you to a prison cell in the Book of Acts. Paul and Silas had been doing everything right. They were preaching the gospel, helping people, and walking in their calling. And yet, they were arrested, beaten, and thrown into prison. Their feet were shackled in chains, and their future looked uncertain.
But here’s the turning point.
Notice how they didn’t wait for the chains to break before they praised. They didn’t wait for the doors to open or for the pain to ease. They praised in the prison. And not quietly either. They sang loud enough for everyone around them to hear. They rejoiced in the face of adversity. They lifted their voices when nothing around them had changed. That’s faith. And where faith is, there is power.
Because the very next verse says, “Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.”
Think about this for a moment… What if your praise could unlock the very thing you’ve been praying for?
What if praising Him in the middle of the pain can shift the spiritual atmosphere?
What if joy isn’t a reward after your breakthrough, but the key that leads to it?
Maybe you’ve been trapped in a situation that you can’t seem to get out of. A health report that hasn’t changed. A financial situation that feels impossible. And you can’t bring yourself to praise until things begin to improve.
Today, the Lord is inviting you to sing in the midst of the struggle. To rejoice now and worship while you’re still in the middle of it.
Because when you do, something begins to shift. Something begins to shake. Maybe not always on the outside first, but definitely, and most importantly, on the inside.
When you praise, chains are breaking!
Prison doors are opening!
Breakthroughs are coming!
So go ahead and sing today, our Lord Jesus is faithful. He hears you, and He will answer you.
