EXHORTATION through the BOOK of LIFE
Scripture to ponder on:
“saying, ‘A certain judge was in a certain city — God he is not fearing, and man he is not regarding — and a widow was in that city, and she was coming unto him, saying, Do me justice on my opponent,”
Luke 18:2-3 YLT98
PERSEVERANCE IN PRAYER
The Christian life is based on spiritual things manifested in reality: “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his glorious and excellent call. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires…” 2 Peter 1:3-4
And it is through prayer that you have access to God’s promises concerning your destiny, which is in Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ
Himself set the example for us: “Early in the morning, long before daybreak, Jesus left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35. He knew His identity and the source of His power, and through His finished work, we are saved today.
Today’s verse is from the story of the widow and the wicked judge. “And he would not do it for a while. But afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God or respect human beings, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, lest her coming again and again drive me to distraction.’” Luke 18:4-5
The widow, through her perseverance, won her case. Then the Lord Jesus Christ added, “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? He is patient about them. I tell you, he will see that they get justice soon. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:7-8
Beloved, you know that you are righteous before God and that all the blessings of the righteous are at your disposal. Do not be discouraged, for your perseverance has its reward, and your faith in the finished work that our Lord has accomplished for you is not in vain.
