EXHORTATION through the BOOK of LIFE
Scripture to ponder on :
“and make not sorrowful the Holy Spirit of God, in which ye were sealed to a day of redemption.”
Ephesians 4:30 YLT98
*DON'T PUT OUT THE FLAME*
This warning is not theoretical. It's very real. It is quite sad to say this but in many of our communities and churches, the fire of the Spirit has been extinguished or has become absent. There are several causes that can explain why. One thing is certain, by our way of living on a daily basis, we cannot remove the Holy Spirit from us, but we can make Him inaudible because of all these distractions that come upon us and rob us of the pleasure of communion with God.
Man does not like to give up control of his life. Not even to the Spirit of God. Unfortunately, we also see it in our spiritual lives. We want miracles, but we despise the spiritual gifts that we have received and that we must put at the service of others. We want to be freed from satan’s lies but we especially do not want to find ourselves in situations where the Holy Spirit takes total control of our bodies. Laxity and complacency are installed, ego takes precedence over the humility of believing that we do need the Holy Spirit in our lives.
When you choose to let the "I" speak, you obstruct the work of the Holy Spirit in you. At home, sometimes you don't want to do anything anymore, you don't want to pray or when you want to pray there is an oppression. When you think about fasting, you get distracted (a new phone, a new car, a job, debts to repay, etc.). All these ephemerals suffocate your desire to connect through fasting and prayer and you let your soul, the seat of your emotions, direct you.
The revelation of the Word of God is found in the Bible. When you choose not to read your Bible or despise the scriptures, you replace the Word of God with the realities of the world. You replace the simplicity of the gospel with false doctrines, false traditions. The risk is that your faith is shaken by everything through which the world defines you. For faith comes from what we hear and what we hear comes from the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17). Let the Holy Spirit take the first place in your heart.
Jesus’ beloved !
