CHRISTIAN REALITY #8
The Christian life is based on the revelation of the work accomplished by the author of Christianity, not on interpretation based on human knowledge. The Apostle Paul, who received the revelation of the Christian Church and wrote about half of the New Testament, never prayed to God to deliver Christians from their problems. Rather, he asked that the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ gives them the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and that their hearts be enlightened so that they might know the hope of His calling and the riches of the glory of His inheritance reserved for the saints.
When on the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ cried out, “It is finished,” “And when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished.’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” John 19:30. And after His resurrection, “And Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’” John 20:21-22
He has accomplished the mission for your redemption and given you the same power that enabled Him to successfully accomplish His mission.
But until you receive spiritual revelation and grow in it, you will remain condemned to Satan’s dominion.
Let’s get practical.
Prayer is centered on God, the only One who matters. The goal is not simply to show you what you can obtain; your deep, daily prayer is: Father, help me understand Christ, help me understand what Your grace has accomplished. Allow me to see my calling through Him. Allow me to recognize the inheritance of redemption. May this truth guide my thinking and living in Jesus’ name! Amen.
